Barcelona, June 7, 2023– Pau Gasol, president of the Gasol Foundation, a member of the International Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission and a former professional basketball player, introduced Gasol16 Ventures, a business vehicle created with the purpose of grouping together his investment projects, consulting and business alliances, and other business activities.
In a discussion with IE Governing Board President Pablo Isla at the 11th South Summit, Gasol spoke about the entrepreneurial roles he has taken on during the last several years. He has focused more on these roles since his retirement from professional basketball in 2021, and will continue to develop his business under the umbrella of Gasol16 Ventures.
“At Gasol16 Ventures, we are very selective about the projects we participate in and want to leverage our team’s knowledge, experience and global network to help our partners win,” Gasol said.
Gasol16 Ventures identifies and promotes projects related to four specific verticals: 1. Initiatives that are revolutionizing the world of sports globally, leveraging the power of sports to unite communities, teach values, and be at the forefront of innovation and disruption.
2. Alliances with agents of change and disruptive initiatives in the four pillars related to health and wellness:healthy eating, physical activity, emotional well-being and rest
3. Supporting Spanish entrepreneurs with potential global reach who, like Gasol, believe they can compete with the best in the world and build global companies that are leaders in their sector
4. Private equity including sharing its knowledge, network and experience to help firms like Consello better serve their clients and portfolio companies, as well as seek out and execute on other investment opportunities
Investment phase focus for Gasol16 Ventures
In line with Gasol’s personal goal of helping people become the best version of themselves, Gasol16 Ventures’ objective is to maximize the impact and potential of projects in which his involvement can make a difference. To this end, the company identifies initiatives that are in series A or later, that have achieved product-market fit or are generating revenue, and that, in addition, have the capacity to grow and add value within their market at a global level.
